Upper number by lunar birth year

The lower number depends on your lunar birthday and its day value in 2026, so it varies by date. Use the calculator above to find it. Leap-month birthdays are treated as the regular month with the same number.

How are the 144 combinations calculated?

  1. Calculate traditional counting age from the lunar birth year, add the target year’s year value, and divide by 8. The remainder gives the upper number.
  2. Add the month value to the number of days (29 or 30) in the lunar birth month of the target year, then divide by 6. The remainder gives the middle number.
  3. Add the day value for the birthday in the target year to the lunar birthday number, then divide by 3. The remainder gives the lower number.

A remainder of 0 becomes 8, 6, or 3 respectively. This gives 8 × 6 × 3 = 144 combinations.

A leap-month birthday is treated as the regular month with the same number. If the target year has no day 30 in that month, day 29 is used. These are this site’s date conventions; other editions may produce a different reading.

A Saju annual reading calculates relationships between the natal Four Pillars, annual influences, and ten-year cycles. Tojeong uses your lunar birth date and numbers for the target year to calculate upper, middle, and lower numbers, then looks up the corresponding interpretation. Birth time and gender are not used.

No. They follow lunar months 1–12. The year runs from Lunar New Year to the day before the following Lunar New Year. A leap month uses the reading for the regular month with the same number.

Yes. Here, traditional counting age is based on the lunar birth year, and the middle number uses the length and month value of the lunar birth month in the target year. Leap-month handling, birthdays on day 30, and the edition used can change the result. We show the numbers used in your calculation.

Where do these readings come from?

These are English translations of the 144 Korean readings published under the MIT license by molpass/mcp-tojeong. The provider describes this edition as a modern-spelling revision, made in 1998, of materials in a private collection. Bibliographic details of those materials and expert review are unverified. K-Fortune has not compared all 144 readings with historical source texts.

We checked the calculation method against the Encyclopedia of Korean Culture and tested its implementation. This does not establish the historical accuracy or predictive ability of the interpretations. We do not connect to an external MCP server; your birth date is processed in your browser.
